Outstanding Financial Performance in the First Quarter of 2026
H World Group Limited (NASDAQ:HTHT) recently announced its first-quarter earnings for 2026, significantly outperforming market forecasts. The company's earnings per share (EPS) reached RMB3.36, comfortably surpassing the estimated RMB3.13, marking a positive surprise of 7.35%. Additionally, its revenue for the quarter stood at RMB6.0 billion (approximately $870 million), exceeding the projected RMB5.66 billion by 6.01%. A key driver of this success was the franchised and manachised revenue, which saw a 20.3% increase, reaching RMB3.0 billion, or around $436 million.
China Market Dominance Fuels Overall Growth
The remarkable growth witnessed in the first quarter was predominantly spearheaded by H World's operations within China. The H World China division recorded a substantial 12.4% year-over-year revenue increase, climbing to RMB5 billion. In contrast, H World International experienced a more modest, yet positive, growth of 5.1%, with revenues reaching RMB972 million. This disparity underscores the critical role of the Chinese market in the company's overall financial achievements.
Aggressive Global Expansion and Network Development
As of March 31, H World Group Limited maintained an extensive global footprint, operating 13,215 hotels that collectively house 1,303,563 rooms. Demonstrating its commitment to continuous expansion, an additional 2,894 hotels are currently under development. During the first quarter alone, H World China successfully inaugurated 537 new hotels while optimizing its portfolio by closing 177. This strategic activity highlights the company's dynamic approach to network expansion and market penetration, consistently pushing beyond the 13,000-hotel milestone.
